ANALYSE DISCURSIVE DE LA RENOVATION STYLISTIQUE D’AHMADOU KOUROUMA A TRAVERS ALLAH N’EST PAS OBLIGÉ

Abstract

Ahmadou Kourouma as a new generational African writer has adopted a narrative technique that is not in tandem with morphology and syntax of standard French literary works. In this paper, we shall examine the stylistics techniques the author used to form African neologisms in Allah n’est pas obligé. We shall also elucidate Kourouma’s ideologies and literary style as it affects the enrichment of French language. Is it a subtle way of advocating an Africanized French linguistic approach in the context of post-independent African literature or a deliberate revolt in order to preserve his true African identity and heritage? This paper attempts to answer this question and also delve into Ahmadou Kourouma’s literary consciousness as he tries to liberate himself from the French language domination encouraged by the Colonial masters. This paper is a literary critique of Ahmadou Kourouma’s Allah n’est pas Obligé and data for this work was gotten from secondary sources. Having critically analyzed Allah n’est pas obligé, the paper concludes that Ahmadou Kourouma embarks on this morphological and syntactic renovation as a revolt against the colonial master and his language; to serve a larger African public and to show that Africans can still speak their native languages by still using the French language as an instrument to drive their ideas. By so doing, Ahmadou Kourouma tries to enrich both Malinké and French languages. Keywords: Stylistics, syntax, morphology, neologism
